たいていの英語の文章は問題なく読めますがときどきわからないのがあります。最近、
フェイスブックに娘が書いた文章を見て考えてしまいました。なにこれは？
"Just sprung Ipsus from doggy jail and was browbeated into microchipping him."
どうしてもわからないので尋ねたら婚約者が答えてくれました。娘はほんのたまに書くだけで文章も俳句のように短いようです。婚約者のほうはまめな人なので一安心。下記が彼の説明です。
Keiko- Ipsus is our dog's name. It’s Latin, meaning, "one self". Doggy jail is where Animal Control took him, when he ran away from home, via a hole in the fence in our backyard. Browbeated is "guilt"and "responsibility" that the Animal Control people made Mikki feel for not having a "Microchip" in him... which is a small computer chip that they "installed" in the back of our dog's head so that he can always be identified if caught by Animal Control again.
犬が保護されて逃げないように管理をしっかりするように言われたのでしょう、それでマイクロチップを犬の頭の後ろに埋めたようです。犬は可愛いけれど世話が大変ですね。新しい柵でも穴を掘って逃げるか遊びに行ってしまいます。でも人間の子供はもっと大変ですから、いい経験じゃないかと私は思っています。
